Fillings
Tooth decay, also called a cavity, is structural damage to a tooth. To treat a cavity, dentists will first numb the area of the tooth to ensure you’re comfortable during treatment. Then they will remove the damaged portion of the tooth decay to prevent further damage, and “fill” the damaged portion back in to restore the tooth back to form, function, and esthetics.
There are several types of fillings, including amalgam (silver), composite resin (plastic), ceramic (porcelain), and gold. At Dental Care Marlboro, we work with each patient to identify the kind of filling and process that is best and least invasive – maximizing effectiveness and comfort, all while looking great.
